Small Business Investment Program

Equity in entrepreneurship

We’ve partnered with Prudential Financial and Metro-Detroit Black Business Alliance to launch the first-ever Black Small Business Investment Program to support Black entrepreneurs, small business owners, and small business employees in Metro-Detroit. Our strategic pilot program will grant $500,000 to up to 200 participants, with each receiving $2,500 to their Stackwell investment accounts, access to investment education, and other financial resources.

Very often, Black entrepreneurs face significant obstacles along the way, like securing bank funding, gaining capital, or procurement contracts. This opportunity to help build equity in business ownership by supporting our community in opening more businesses and scaling existing ones is key for us, as entrepreneurship represents a powerful pathway to narrowing the racial wealth gap.

Entergy HBCU Partnership

Investing in New Orleans

The Entergy x Stackwell Partnership, known as "The Power of Prosperity," is set to create transformative opportunities for Historically Black College and University (HBCU) students in New Orleans. In partnership with Entergy, we’ll invest $700,000 to provide essential support to 1,500 freshmen and first-year transfer students at Dillard University, Southern University at New Orleans, and Xavier University of Louisiana.

The program aims to remove barriers to academic success by offering free access to financial support and resources. Notably, students will receive $100 seeded investment accounts and gain access to financial wellness education to promote healthy financial habits. The impact of The Power of Prosperity extends beyond individual students, with an estimated economic impact exceeding $25 million in terms of added financial aid and investment accounts.

Stackwell & Fintech
in Action

HBCU Financial Wellness Program

We launched a groundbreaking financial wellness program in collaboration with Fintech in Action to provide students of HBCUs with a finance and investing course and seeded Stackwell investment accounts to begin building wealth during their college careers. The goal of the program is to provide access to the financial markets, education, and support to enable and empower these students to grow their investments while taking advantage of their greatest asset—time.

Young Adult Financial Empowerment Program

8,100%. That’s how massive the racial wealth gap is in DC, the Chocolate City itself.

Stackwell & Tzedek DC is thrilled to announce the launch of the DC Young Adult Financial Empowerment Program, aimed at fostering greater financial wellness and inclusion for DC residents. This groundbreaking 12-month pilot program is set to deliver tailored financial education workshops, addressing the specific needs of young adults, including budgeting, managing debt, comprehending their paychecks, building credit, and investing. Moreover, the program will grant $10,000 to up to 100 participants, providing each eligible individual with $100 in grant funding to kickstart their investment journeys on the Stackwell investment platform.

This pilot program addresses a pressing issue within the Chocolate City, where economic disparities have disproportionately affected Black residents for generations. By offering comprehensive financial education and grants to young adults, the program seeks to empower individuals in the Black community, equipping them with the knowledge and resources needed to bridge the wealth gap and create a more equitable financial landscape.

Stackwell & Hampton University

Black excellence creates Black wealth

Through a one-of-a-kind student investment program, Hampton University will donate $25,000 to seed Stackwell investment accounts for its current freshman class. That’s 860 students. By the time these young adults graduate, they will not only have received a world-class education with advanced financial literacy, but they’ll also have an investment portfolio they’ve been building since their freshman year.

We’re creating a whole different kind of education system that builds financial wellness, promotes good habits, and helps students prepare for long-term financial stability and wealth accumulation over time.  We’re building more than wealth. We’re building a new generation of possibilities.

Student Investment Program

We’re invested in the future and advancement of current Black college students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs).

In partnership with the Student Freedom Initiative (SFI) and Prudential Financial, we have launched a Student Investment Program granting $500,000 in funding to seed the Stackwell investment accounts of 500 participating students at HBCUs and MSIs. These students have historically been disproportionally impacted by many of the economic and social inequities contributing to the racial wealth gap. This first-of-its-kind partnership will commence in the first quarter of 2023 and will be open to students attending the 43 HBCUs and MSIs within the SFI network.

NBA & WNBA Partnerships

We’re invested in local communities like Detroit, Minneapolis, New Orleans, and Washington, D.C. These cities have large Black communities that are among the most impacted by the racial wealth gap.

So, we’ve partnered with teams in the NBA and WNBA because they are leaders in their commitment to social justice and creating change. Together, we will drive social and economic impact in these markets with authenticity and passion. Our strategic multi-year partnerships will increase investment access and education through community-based programming, open over 3,500 new Stackwell accounts, and contribute over $250,000 back into the local Black communities over the next three years.
